Free to play

A free card game you can play right now

Boomstick City is a free, post-apocalyptic card game that runs in your browser. Not a demo. Not a trial with three cards and a paywall. All four crews and their starter decks are free from the start, and you jump straight into a real match. Open the page, pick a deck, fight for the streets. That is the whole ask.

Free to start, free to compete

Here is what free actually means. The four starter decks, one for each crew, are yours the moment you show up. You do not earn them, unlock them, or buy them. They are already built, already tuned, and already good enough to win with.

You are not handed a broken half-deck and told to spend your way to a real one. Each starter is a complete, playable deck with a clear plan. Scrapwright grinds value. Powderkeg hits fast. Hearth floods the board. Glow mutates and bites back. Pick the one that reads like you and go.

There is an economy. It is not the price of admission.

We are not going to pretend the game has no economy. It does. There is Gold, there are packs, and there are cosmetics. But none of it stands between you and a match, and none of it is required to play or to win.

Gold buys packs to widen your collection over time. Cosmetics change how your stuff looks, not how it hits. You can play for weeks on a starter deck, climb, and never open your wallet. The paid parts are for people who want more variety, not more power. That is the line, and we hold it.

Not pay to win. On purpose.

The game is a race to 15 Territory Points on one shared board. You spend Volts, an energy that ramps up a point every turn and refills, to play Survivors, Gear, and Events. Clear the enemy board and the Stash opens for extra points. It is a fight for ground, not a health bar, and it is usually over in around eight turns.

Winning comes from reading the board and spending Volts well, not from owning a rarer card. A starter deck in good hands beats a fat collection in bad hands. That is the point of a race. You cannot buy tempo.

No account wall before you play

The catch people expect with a free card game is the one that is not here. No forced signup before you can take a swing. No starter deck that quietly loses to anything you have to pay for. Free means free to play, free to learn, and free to win.

It also runs in the browser you already have open, so there is nothing to download to find out. If that is what pulled you here, we wrote a whole page on it below. The short version: open the page and you are in a match.

Common questions

Is Boomstick City really free?

Yes. All four crews and their starter decks are free from the start, and you can play full matches in your browser without paying anything. There is an optional economy (Gold, packs, cosmetics), but it is not required to play or to compete. You can play, learn, and win entirely for free.

Is it pay to win?

No. You win by racing to 15 Territory Points on a shared board, which comes down to how well you read the game and spend your Volts, not what you own. The four starter decks are complete and competitive. Cosmetics change how your cards look, not how they perform, so nothing you buy hits harder.

Do I need to pay to get good cards?

No. Each free starter deck is a full, tuned deck with a clear game plan, good enough to climb with. Packs bought with Gold widen your collection over time and add variety, but they are not a requirement, and a starter deck in good hands beats a big collection in bad hands.

What is the catch?

There is not one hiding behind the word free. No download, no app store, and no account needed to start playing. There is an optional economy for players who want more variety or cosmetics down the line, and it is completely skippable. You can open the page and play a real match right now.
